I’m not a regular plant parent, I’m a cool plant parent (who’s going to help you grow the happiest houseplants ever!) If you’re not sure where to put your new houseplant, steal my plants’ favorite hangout spots! Maybe you’ve heard that most houseplants love bright, indirect light. But what does that actually mean?! Here are a few places you can find it in your home: WEST FACING WINDOW - Lighting can be more intense here. Placing your plant just a few feet from the window is perfect. EAST FACING WINDOW - Here your plants get bright direct morning light and ambient light through the rest of the day. SOUTH FACING WINDOW - This is my plants’ most favorite spot. The next time you’re out plant shopping and you find a small plant to take home, don’t just grab one. Get multiple!! Plant them all in the same pot and just like that you’ll have an instantly bushy plant! People will be wondering your secret is. I did this with a Pothos but you can do it with any houseplant variety. Tell me if you’ve done this before!

How much do you hate your houseplants?

I guess you can call me Miracle Max because this Triangularis actually survived!! Be honest, did you think I could do it? Turns out this tree just needed a repot, strong lighting (it’s under a grow light in my bedroom), and some truly magic @happyhappyhouseplant Plant Food (aka the chocolate coated miracle pill)! And in just a few short months it looks like a totally different tree! Here’s your sign that your plants can totally make a comeback this spring. I think we should call this tree Westley from now on! Try this if you want new growth on your houseplants!! Here’s the hack. For the next 2 to 3 waterings you’re going to double the amount of @happyhappyhouseplant Plant Food you’re adding to your watering can. So instead of 1 ml per gallon of water you’ll add 2. Make sense? Plant Food uses a gentle formulation that, when doubled, will give your plant a little boost for spring! If you have any questions, let me know. Houseplants are the best kind of Choose Your Own Adventure. A year ago I dug this vine out of the trash pile after cleaning up (ahem *catastrophically butchering*) the living wall. But instead of chucking it I chopped/propped/nuzzled it. And it was a really great idea! Not only is this plant gorgeous, but it was FREE!! Today I pulled off the last two original giant floppy leaves. Is it a bummer when they die? Of course, but it’s all part of the adventure! Have you tried propagating yet?! Tell me everything!

2 years ago I made the internet nervous when I chopped all the leaves and branches off this Fiddle Leaf Fig (were you here for that?) But it’s a good thing I did because look at that amazing regrowth!! If you want to give your fiddle a makeover this spring and summer, here are the steps: 1. For the next 2 to 3 waterings double the @happyhappyhouseplant Plant Food dosage from 1 ml per gallon of water to 2 ml per gallon of water. 2. Once you start to see some new growth on your tree, it’s time to chop. Grab a clean pair of sheers and start pruning. Make your cut at the height you want new branches to grow! 3. Place your tree in a spot with great lighting and continue watering with Plant Food at the normal dosage, 1 ml per gallon of water. Then sit back and watch those new leaves and branches grow! Make sure you’ll following along and I’ll share more details about each step.

Repotting any of your large plants or trees?! Steal this set up! Everything you’ll need: - Raised planter stand - Planter with drainage holes (this on is from @veradeck - Plugs for the drainage holes Here’s how it works! In between waterings, the plugs are in teh drainage holes. Once I water, I unplug the holes and place a tray underneath the planter to catch any excess water. After all the extra water has drained, I replace the plugs and empty the tray. No moving of the plant required!
