The Concrete Le Corbusier Lamp that inspired Kanye West Originally designed by Le Corbusier as an outdoor light for the 1952 Unité d’Habitation in Marseille, the Borne Béton lamp is making a comeback. Known for its raw Brutalist style, it also inspired Kanye West for his 2013 Yeezus album, calling it his “greatest inspiration.” Now reissued by Nemo Lighting, the lamp is available in both a full-size outdoor version and a smaller tabletop model. While it features LED light sources, it remains true to Corbusier’s original design. Valentina Folli of Nemo describes it as “a pure yet functional volume” with a massive concrete reflector. Le Corbusier’s design philosophy continues to influence architects and artists today, from Kanye West to Karl Lagerfeld. #industrial
