This Eames Tandem Three Seater combines a vintage steel-and-aluminum base from the original Herman Miller system – complete with period labeling – with newly produced fiberglass shells by Modernica (@modernica)
This Eames Tandem Three Seater combines a vintage steel-and-aluminum base from the original Herman Miller system – complete with period labeling – with newly produced fiberglass shells by Modernica (@modernica). Designed by Charles and Ray Eames in the early 1960s, the Tandem series was originally developed for public terminals, reflecting the couple’s enduring commitment to modularity, material efficiency, and the architecture of shared space. The shells, produced in Los Angeles by Modernica as part of their Case Study Furniture line, are made using methods that honor the form and tactility of the originals. While the components span decades, the assembled piece reflects a singular design logic: one where form, function, and adaptability remain in dialogue. Photo: @modernica #industrial

The Big Breath by @severinguelpa reads like an illusion, offering an early glimpse into the aesthetic of a digital future
The Big Breath by @severinguelpa reads like an illusion, offering an early glimpse into the aesthetic of a digital future. The installation, exhibited at @palaisdetokyo in 2017, moves and breathes as if born from code. Its seven oversized aluminum cushions inflate and deflate with a mechanical rhythm that mimics life. Monumental yet weightless, the cushions press against the boundaries of their enclosure—the interior is barely able to contain them. The work prefigures the AI aesthetic before it entered the mainstream. It anticipates the rise of coded aesthetics not through advanced technology, but by embodying its logic. Architecture, installation, and performance converge in a form that feels algorithmically animate—an organism without biology, coded without code. Read the latest editorial on industrialkonzept.com #industrial

The Futuro House, designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen, is one of the boldest expressions of 20th-century retrofuturism
The Futuro House, designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen, is one of the boldest expressions of 20th-century retrofuturism. Created in the late 1960s as a ski cabin, it was lightweight, prefabricated, and quick to heat — designed for transport and assembly even in remote terrain. Made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, it stood 4 meters high and 8 meters in diameter, featuring a compact layout with a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom. Its spaceship-like shape and airplane hatch entrance captured the era’s space-race optimism, though its avant-garde look made it controversial — especially in rural areas. Over 100 were built before production ended during the 1973 oil crisis. Today, around 60 remain around the world, from Finland to the U.S., New Zealand to South Africa. Once a commercial failure, now a cultural icon — the Futuro stands as a lasting vision of the future that never came. #industrial

Ball Tray, designed by Bram Schlangen for 304.cage Developed as part of the tableware collection by 304.cage, the Ball Tray explores the intersection of utility and sculpture. Each piece is produced in Rotterdam and combines hand-cast resin spheres with a polished, food-grade stainless steel mirror plate. The design challenges conventional domestic objects by elevating their form into something more spatial and reflective—inviting reinterpretation beyond function. Used as a key holder, serving surface, or standalone display, the piece reflects the studio’s interest in weight, materiality, and contrast. Now available on industrialkonzept.com #industrial

The latest Annotations editorial features Linde Freya Tangelder, designer and founder of Destroyers/Builders, who approaches design as an ongoing negotiation between fragility and structure, uncertainty and resolve
The latest Annotations editorial features Linde Freya Tangelder, designer and founder of Destroyers/Builders, who approaches design as an ongoing negotiation between fragility and structure, uncertainty and resolve. Her practice is grounded in the language of materials—how they behave, connect, and retain traces of transformation. Through limited-edition objects and collaborations, she sustains a distinct voice, balancing instinctive experimentation with architectural reasoning. Rather than focusing on individual projects, we discuss the rhythms behind them, the emotional and material undercurrents. @anoemelliou: You seem interested in states of being, and their transitions—like you said, liquid or solid, something that is joining, something coming together, and the tension that it creates. Does that reflect something personal to you? @lindefreya_tangelder: I'm fascinated by materials and how they behave. What drives the design process is the interplay between structure and material. I'm inspired by architectural systems, and structural logic. That's often the starting point: how different elements meet or balance. From there, at an architectural level, I begin sketching, and those ideas naturally reappear through joinery, connections, or in how a material behaves—whether rigid or fluid, strict or amorphous. Read the complete conversation on industrialkonzept.com Design Series by @lindefreya_tangelder Photography by @elinewillaert Portrait by @alexanderpopelier #industrial
