#repost @barriegower Here’s a few of the initial makeup tests we did for the Seraphites ‘Scars’ for episode 3 of @thelastofus S2. We explored a few alternative approaches and shapes for the scars, but we landed on something pretty close to the source material from the game, and rightly so! We had a few days throughout the shoot with some big numbers of folk with scars, so time was of the essence for a speedy application. We decided on quick, probondo transfers, that could have a base pre tinted close to the actor’s skin tone and easily artworked with illustrators once applied. We were brought in to create this super nasty beaten up makeup on Valjohn played by @peterferdinando who was so patient and fantastic in all this gunk and half-blind! Really satisfying to be able to really go for it with the blood, makes sense if you’ve seen how scary Tom Hardy’s character is!! One of my favourite products we used on this is the Congealed Problood that we dehydrated in the oven for aaaaggges which looks great for super dark caked on blood. Repost from @barriegower • One of the most important makeups for us on season 2 of @thelastofus was to create the injuries Joel sustains in episode 2. Working with @pascalispunk was an absolute joy. We had approximately a week filming this scene. Not only was it important to find the right balance of injuries and the weight to the swollen eyelids, I had to make sure Pedro could emote and act through the makeup, which he did brilliantly. We also had to aim to get as accurate as possible to the source material, with it being such an important scene, if somewhat harrowing. It was a wonderful experience working with @clmazin @druckmann and Director Mark Mylod on not only an iconic scene, but a huge episode! I sculpted the makeup and applied it with @paulspateri A big thank you to our incredible team of mould makers, silicone techs, art finishers and hair techs at BGFX, Hair styling courtesy of the amazing @cocoullrich A big shout out to @vincentvandykefx for his help with 3D scanning.
