My entire life has been like watching a slow ripple effect, and this particular season it’s been so so strong. It’s been an intense year, both personally and professionally, but I feel like I’m at the threshold of something. There’s been unease surrounding it, but mostly because of the unknown, and some of the struggles that occur right before something big happens. Maybe it’s nothing. Who knows? But there’s been a quiet series of moments where I stop and think: “I remember wanting this” “Oh, that’s what that meant” “It’s a good thing I held off on that” The more I’ve reflected on it, the less I think manifestation is about asking the universe for things. I think it’s about becoming deeply honest with yourself. It’s about knowing exactly what you want, even when it’s uncomfortable. It’s about trusting your intuition enough to make decisions that move you toward that life, long before there’s any proof you’re on the right path. It’s a subconscious act. If there’s one thing that has consistently guided me through adulthood, it’s my self-awareness, and stubbornness to only follow my intuition, even when it doesn’t make sense to anyone else. Looking back, I can see that every one of those decisions created another ripple. One led to another, and another, until one day you look around and realize you’re standing in a life you quietly started building years ago. Maybe that’s what manifestation really is. Although a word that often makes me cringe, it’s the concept that I believe holds magic. Maybe we just need to trust the process more. Get comfortable with unease, if even for just a little longer. Recognize signs. Listen to our body’s response. Somehow, some way, things have always turned out exactly as they’re meant to.

While scent follows a natural evolution as you wear it, exactly how each stage presents itself will vary from one person to the next. A note may linger longer, become more pronounced, or reveal a slightly different character depending on the wearer. Joni begins bright and green… a smooth sharpness. The bergamot and lemongrass come through first, with rosemary adding an herbal edge. Give it a little time on the skin and the geranium starts to emerge. This is where I find the scent starts to shift. The initial brightness softens, the lemongrass is doing its thing in the background, but the floral notes become more noticeable, and everything starts to feel warmer. As it settles even more, the cedar and patchouli begin to come forward. Not in a heavy, earthy way that you might assume about patchouli—the citrus and geranium are still there—but the scent becomes warmer, woodier, and closer to the skin. Hours later, I can still catch little traces of citrus and floral against the woods. It’s one of the things I love most about natural perfume. It doesn’t stay frozen in one place. You experience different parts of the blend at different times, then there’s the difference between the body oil and the perfume… and how your own skin becomes part of how the scent unfolds. I’m really enjoying hearing your feedback as you start receiving your orders. As with all seasonal offerings, I only make a limited number of each product. Sometimes they become permanent collections, and sometime not. I’m not sure about Joni yet— I thought it was totally just a summer scent, but it’s so versatile that it could easily carry into the following seasons. We’ll see.

Introducing JONI - The Scent of Summer
JONI — the scent of the summer is here! Over the years, I’ve offered quarterly boxes with apothecary-led items that reflected the seasons. Lately, I find myself drawn somewhere different, with a desire to play more with scent. And rather than building a collection around a landscape or a place in nature (which is where I typically draw inspiration), each seasonal release explores more of “a feeling” through scent. If you asked me, “If you could go back to any moment in time, what would it be?” the answer to that has never changed. I grew up listening to the music with my parents and hearing stories about what life was like. Joni isn’t the subject of the fragrance; she’s the doorway into it—a place, a time, a song, a mood. Inspired by the botanical revival of the late 1960s through the early 1970s, the name evokes an era of creativity and freedom—when music, botanicals, and self-expression became deeply intertwined. It’s the quiet counterculture—folk music and the exploration of personal freedom. This scent is built around the botanicals that were a part of a cultural shift, and Joni is my olfactory interpretation of the era. It’s how that era lives in my imagination. It’s geranium, cedarwood, and lemongrass, with just a trace of patchouli—anchoring the brighter notes and giving the scent its warmth and depth. It’s a California summer. Laurel Canyon hillsides warmed by the afternoon sun. Bare feet in dry grass. Guitars strumming through open air. Wildflowers along roadsides. Salt carried in on the breeze, and long evenings that seemed to stretch on forever. One Scent. Three Ways. Created to be experienced together, this collection invites you to discover how the same botanical composition transforms across three different mediums: body oil, eau de parfum, and candle. Each reveals a distinct expression of the scent—warmer on the skin, brighter as a perfume, and softer as it fills a room. Joni is here for the summer. Wear it, burn it, live with it. Tell me where it takes you!
