I started Summer Solace Tallow in 2014 because I wanted to bring back the nourishing traditions of using animal fats for the skin. This is an ancient practice that honors the land, the animals, and our own well-being. Each week, I render fresh suet from regeneratively raised cattle into rich, golden tallow and hand pour every batch with care in our Oakland studio. My formulas are made with regional ingredients that reflect the rhythm of the land and the wisdom of our ancestors. To use, scoop a small amount into your hands, rub them together to gently warm and emulsify, then apply to your skin. My Journey as a Tallow Artist – Part 3 Upon returning to the Bay Area in 2010, still holding to my vegetarian ways, I began my work as the sous chef and kitchen manager at Three Stone Hearth @threestonehearth a community kitchen deeply rooted in the ancestral traditions of nourishment. Our work was guided by the teachings of @sallyfallonmorell and Nourishing Traditions, embracing the timeless wisdom of traditional diets and the healing practices of our ancestors. It was here that my understanding of true, whole nourishment deepened, planting the seeds that would later bloom into my work as a tallow artist.
