On Sundays we bake bread ☺️. Learning how to make fresh sourdough bread changed everything for me. Not only did it give me my life back by being able to eat bread without symptomatic repercussions because of its natural fermentation process, but it helped me be more present, eat healthier, lose weight and help my family consume more nutrient dense foods. A win-win all around! I’ve been learning more and more how important it is to use fresh milled flour, especially from ancient grains. I personally love Einkorn best because it’s the ORIGINAL ancient grain that only has 14 chromosomes and is the most digestible grain for the human body. But if I’m out, I use Kamut, like in this video. Both great options for people who are gluten-intolerant, like me. I just did 50/50 organic bread flour and fresh milled Kamut, if you’re wanting to try it out. Everything else was the same. Maybe just a little bit more water if it seems dry. ☺️ This recipe has been downloaded over 100,000+ times (that’s honestly blows my mind) and for good reason. It is so fluffy and soft, has amazing flavor and can be utilized for so many things. Hundreds of micro bakers make this recipe weekly for their customers; what an honor. 🥹🫶🏻❤️ When I created this recipe I wanted a sister to our artisan sourdough bread. One that kids and toddlers would love because it didn’t have tough crust (that’s personally one of my favorite things about sourdough bread, but not everyone’s 😅) and the sweetness comes from raw honey instead of sugar. It’s okay to fail, that’s how we learn. 😘 I was filming a recipe test I wanted to launch for Mother’s Day that I practiced on Easter for my family. And I failed….hard. I’m learning to let go of perfectionism. It’s not that I have to do everything perfect, it’s just some things…like sourdough baking. 😅 If I make a mistake or screw up a recipe, I’m really hard on myself and usually end up negatively spiraling until my husband brings me back. I just happened to catch this moment when filming me talking to him about the Raspberry Lemon Sweet Rolls with Mascarpone Frosting, when I realized I screwed up and I got sad and defeated, but he was right there to pick me back up. 🥹❤️ What a blessing it is to have a man that loves you through your mistakes, doesn’t get angry or call you names, and shows up for you emotionally. Happy Mother’s Day 🥹❤️ I would do it all over again…. + For every sleepless night + For the way your body melts into mine after being rocked to sleep + For your newborn smell and milk breath + For the way your face lights up when I enter the room every time + For the strength I never knew I was capable of as I roared you out of my body and held you for the first time + For every new milestone you made over and over again + For endless giggles and “what’s that?” + For the look of question in your eyes until I encouraged you to be brave and took your first steps + For the endless messes that remind me how blessed I am + For the “art” made on every wall + For the light in your eyes when you find you can do something new + For the hole you healed in my heart that I didn’t even know was there + For the greatest JOY I’ve ever felt + For the constant noises that fill our home + For your unconditional love and Grace when I make mistakes learning to be your “Mom” It has been an honor to be a Mother since the young age of 20 and even though it has come with challenges and has felt lonely at times, it was the best decision I could have ever made. And while we live in a world that constantly devalues the role of Women and Motherhood, I will tell you this….NOTHING is more fulfilling than stepping into your Divine Feminine role as a Mother. And while I know many of you have wished to become a Mother and for whatever reason it hasn’t happened yet do to infertility issues or otherwise, please know I see you and my heart is with you. As a woman who has lost three babies, I know the depth of sorrow that comes with that grief, but you can find peace and joy again after loss. If there’s one thing I wish I would have done differently, it would be to ask for help more when I was in the trenches and to give help when I wasn’t. Motherhood takes a village and we can and should all help one another more, without judgment. Thank you @sourdoughsparrow for creating the BEST sourdough discard chocolate chip cookie recipe I have ever tasted! I make these for every sourdough class I teach, and sometimes I think my returning students really just come back for more cookies 🙂↕️ I converted Amanda’s original volume measurements to weighed ingredients and the full recipe is below: Ingredients: 3 sticks (339g) butter, browned 500g all purpose flour 12g baking soda 12g arrowroot powder or corn starch 6g salt 400g brown sugar 100g granulated sugar 1 egg 1 egg yolk 1 TBSP vanilla extract 220g sourdough discard 250g semi-sweet chocolate chips 250g milk chocolate chips Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling Directions: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt and cook the butter until it smells toasty and is caramel in color. Let it cool slightly. Whisk together flour, baking soda, arrowroot powder, and salt. Set aside. Mix browned butter with sugars, then add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and mix again. You can do this with a sturdy whisk, wooden spoon, or in a stand mixer with the paddle attachment. Pour in sourdough discard. Mix well. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients, about 1 cup at a time, just until incorporated. Gently mix in chocolate chips. I usually do this by hand. Chill dough for 30min or up to 2 days. Preheat oven to 375. Roll the chilled dough into balls about 85g each and place them 3 inches apart on a lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and bake for 12-14 min. Enjoy! 😘🍪

Resounding, yes because my husband made it 🥹❤️. To say I’m absolutely in love with this family heirloom is an understatement. What an honor to cook and bake sourdough for my family so we can eat around this memory and connection maker. In 2020 we created a carpentry business from scratch (Tanner was all self taught) but we felt compelled to shut it down in late 2022 and create @sourdoughsparrow in early 2023. We haven’t had a non busy minute, since. All you small business owners understand, I’m sure. 🤪 Now after 5 years, Tanner finally built us a white oak dining table from scratch, no plans…just designed it himself and figured it out in his mind as he went (my brain doesn’t understand that) and it’s the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever seen. He designed and had the legs made @tablelegsdotcom and they were amazing to work with. So grateful to have been married to this man for almost 18 years, come this Saturday. ☺️ He truly is the best and one of the most talented people I know.
