“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” That saying has shaped our approach to shirtmaking for decades. We stick with what works and only tweak what doesn’t. Take our lined plackets: first developed by Max Gitman in the 1940s for U.S. military shirts, they were designed to hold shape without ironing. Over 80 years later, they’re still doing just that—keeping your shirt looking sharp with minimal upkeep #MadeInUSA

Our latest collaborative capsule with Alexander Girard, along with select favorites from past capsules, is now live on our website
Our latest collaborative capsule with Alexander Girard, along with select favorites from past capsules, is now live on our website! Focusing on two of Girard’s Herman Miller-era prints, June (1964) and Cutouts (1954), this release emphasizes Girard’s mid-century modernist design sensibility and masterful use of color. This is the first time June and Cutouts have been used for clothing, and our Italian partner mill did an absolutely wonderful job recreating both prints to their original specifications. Head to our site to learn more about Girard and the myriad of prints we currently have on offer #GitOneOn #MadeInUSA #AlexanderGirard

Alexander Girard’s impact on textile and print design is immeasurable; his bold, gestural work helped shape the visual language of American Mid-Century Modernism
Alexander Girard’s impact on textile and print design is immeasurable; his bold, gestural work helped shape the visual language of American Mid-Century Modernism. Architectural, geometric, and deeply referential, Girard’s designs engaged in a dialogue with their surroundings—both natural and built. As he once said, “Fabrics are a building material… They are as much a part of a room as are the conventional materials of brick, glass, wood, and plaster.” Girard’s annotated artwork for his 1954 ‘Cutouts’ print exemplifies this ethos. Within the print, a mathematical logic dictates its form and nods to conventions of architecture and industrial design. This was no coincidence: Girard was a close creative collaborator of Charles Eames and George Nelson, whose work in furniture and lighting echoed his modernist ideals. The three designers worked together at Herman Miller, sharing ideas and inspiring each others work. Our latest collaborative capsule with Alexander Girard launches tomorrow at 11am EST, exclusively on our website. #MadeInUSA

Our ongoing collaboration with iconic designer Alexander Girard continues this week with the release of two prints he created during his tenure as head of fabric and textiles at Herman Miller
Our ongoing collaboration with iconic designer Alexander Girard continues this week with the release of two prints he created during his tenure as head of fabric and textiles at Herman Miller. For those unfamiliar, Girard was a true American design visionary who helped shape the look and feel of Mid-Century Modern through his work in textiles, furniture, typography, and branding. His bold, joyful aesthetic—developed alongside longtime collaborators Charles Eames and George Nelson—remains as influential today as ever. June (1964) and Cutouts (1954) arrive this Thursday, alongside a few favorites from previous collaborative capsules. More on Girard’s legacy—and the upcoming release—soon. Stay tuned.
