Wrapping up this personal project. This black walnut table top came from one of the first tables that I built years ago. Underneath are some of my wife and I’s favorite song lyrics that I burned into the wood by hand. The old table didn’t suit our space anymore, so I wanted to find out a way to transform it into a smaller table, but still keep the sentimental lyrics underneath and visible. Success on the glue up 👍🏼 This one was a tough one. Because this table had some sentimental hand burned lyrics in the bottom of it, I was not able to flatten each of these boards. I was able to straighten the edges a bit, which did helped out tremendously on gluing it up. All in all, I’m really pleased with the outcome.

This is a reconstruction of a table that I made my wife years and years ago. There’s a lot of sentimental features that could easily be covered up with the wrong style of base. .
