Boulder brain coral (Colpophyllia natans) is one of the most recognizable brain corals in the Caribbean, thanks to its deep, winding valleys. They can be shades of brown, green, grey, tan, or even yellow-orange! While they’re more heat-resistant than some corals, they are highly vulnerable to disease. When fragmenting them for restoration, precision is key—we carefully cut along the tops of the walls to protect the valleys where their polyp mouths are located.
