Science can be so beautiful. These bioball streamers might look like underwater sculptures, but they’re working hard to catch the tiniest baby sea urchins. To better understand how these urchins settle in the wild, @sustainableoceanandreefs has deployed bioball “streamers” at our Tavernier and Carysfort nurseries. These specially designed collectors capture wild-settling Diadema antillarium larvae, which are then transferred to a grazer nursery for cultivation and monitoring.
