To represent our heritage and embracing its cultural identity on an International platform, fills fellow Indians with overwhelming joy and pride. An ode to authentic Indian style in all its glory amongst the global audience, isn’t just limited to a ‘fashion statement’, it honors the very essence of us Indians. Punjab being the flavor at the moment, with Diljit Dosanjh putting the authenticity of Punjab on the World fashion map, it fills me with gratitude not only because I am a fellow Punjabi, but to share a look that’s so close to my heart worn by Sunanda Sharma, last year for her debut at Cannes narrating our story so well. Both, the Roman toga and the Indian sari, traditional garments from different cultures, each with its different style, do drape the similar way. Draped over one shoulder, and the rest wrapped around the body, both symbolic to their respective heritage. For ‘Sumor’, this summer of 2025, as I worked through the various silhouettes, this one reminded me of the inspiration it carries. For a simple desire of the toga elegance and something to resemble the sari pleats, this silhouette is ideal for the chic, traditionally modern. Aikeyah, being the powerhouse of experimental silhouettes, does carry history & heritage lending the modern clothing a meaning. Featuring, a toga and a sari inspired dress, in silk. It was in the year 2015, when aikeyah introduced appliqué on organza, the inspiration then came from the ethereal and the delicate craft of ‘Chikankari’. Wanted to re create the shadow play chikankari lends to the sheerness of the fabric , but yet do it the aikeyah way. Signature roses came into play, to create the most dreamy appliqués, still a favourite, probably a ‘hand me down’ into saris, dupatta and various silhouettes there on. For ‘Sumor’ this summer of 2025, i wanted to replicate the magic, taking the tradition but decorating it our way. Featured here, is a baroque motif embroidered in thread cords, reminiscing the light play of appliqué. Calling it ‘araliya’ as it some how reminds me of the flower. #traditionallymodern

The word ‘zari’ comes from the Persian word ‘Zar’ meaning Gold. Embroidery with zari, the craft, is believed to have originated in Ancient Persia, made way into the Indian territory through the Mughal Empire conquest. Now an integral part of our culture, is seen in majority of textiles and craftsmanship today. Often associated with regal elegance, it feels timeless and is a part of Aikeyah’s design language. Featured here is Gold zari embroidered on a corset, calling it the ‘Zar’ corset, traditionally modern resonating the Indian cultural paradox. For ‘Sumor’ Summer’25.

Each season at aikeyah, we carefully select our colour palette. Invoking individual experience, Aikeyah communicates through colours before engagement with the design. Colors make the emotion visible. This summer, for ‘Sumor’ we narrowed down a few unusual pastels with the complimentary brights. Featuring a mandarin orange organza sari, embroidered with signature roses, listed as ‘Dhara’ on the webshop.

Ghagra, native to northern India, often worn with choli, is mostly worn with Kurti in Punjab. Featuring ankle length ghagra, synonymous to aikeyah, in feather light chanderi and the quintessential Gota, exchanging dupatta with a sheer embroidered organza ‘koti’ and the signature gota bralette.
