Mother’s Day is May 11th for much of the globe! Where would we be without our moms (or those that bravely act as stand-ins - we see you art and music teachers, aunts, other Dads, Grandmothers...)? In the literal sense, not here, but otherwise, without our moms fostering of our wild imaginations, creativity, bravery and humor we’d be quite a boring bunch. For those of us lucky enough to have a mom (or a great stand-in) be sure to say thanks this Mother’s Day. Dwellers of the deepest caves have awakened with warnings and prophecies - if only they had mouths to speak! Each statue’s body consists of trimmed off clay shards sculpted into shape, dried for almost two years to avoid kiln explosions and finally glazed by hand. Limited and one of a kind.

We found an unused 35 mm black/white photo film roll on the pavement outside our studio a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps some unlucky person had just bought it and dropped it by accident? We decided to put the found object to good use and located our old 1990’s point and shoot camera to document the studio’s ongoings that day; potters potting, glass blowers blowing. The special film grain texture, soft light and physical presence of the moment is something you wouldn’t be able to catch with an iPhone. We thank the unlucky film roll pre-owner 📷

Our Wall Dish series is an ongoing research on character, texture and mood made by the Copenhagen studio team. Each Dish is hand thrown and decorated with under- and overglazes, engobes and left over bits of tests that act unpredictable in the 1260 C kiln firing and result in surprising effects and fun personalities. All are one-offs and arrive with a steel hanger ready for your gallery wall or display shelf. Decor use only.
