If you’ve ever felt core exercises more in your hips than your abs, this one’s for you xx This flow is hip-friendly, spine-supported, and focused on building deep core strength without gripping through the hip flexors (a common habit when legs are in tabletop). I start with a pelvic tilt to activate the deep core and set up good spinal alignment. From there, I layer with: 1. Basic crunch - targeting upper abs with minimal neck strain 2. Add an arm reach forward - increases load and coordination 3. Add an overhead arm reach - longer lever = more challenge for the core and more time under tension 4. Hold the crunch, only arms move - static hold fires up endurance and control 5. Sometimes in classes that are heavy on the upper body — or that include a lot of planks and bodyweight-bearing work — where the upper body gets a lot of load, I simply love to change things around by not using weights during the leg work. It helps people focus more on the main leg movement and gives them a little active recovery for the upper body. It’s always good to have balance in classes and to mix things up. P.S.
