This morning I woke up and read another chapter from the Acts of the Apostles, as I’ve been doing for morning prayer during the Easter season. I was struck once again by the legacy of faith we have inherited through the blood and sacrifice of the Apostles, the first priests ordained by Jesus himself. ⁣ ⁣ With each page, we see a church being built by their courageous obedience to the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus Christ Crucified. ⁣ ⁣ Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Peter 2:38⁣ ⁣ Awe came upon everyone, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. Acts 2:43⁣ ⁣ They presented these men to the apostles who prayed and laid hands on them. Acts 6:6⁣ ⁣ The word of God continued to spread, and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem increased greatly; even a large group of priests were becoming obedient to the faith. Acts 6:7⁣ ⁣ //⁣ Earlier this week, my niece received her First Holy Communion. Her mom shared that as she prepared to walk down the aisle, escorted by her parents on either side, she looked up at them and exclaimed, “We are SO lucky to be Catholic!”⁣ ⁣ These words resounded deeply in my heart today. ⁣ ⁣ After witnessing the election of Pope Leo XIV, the 267th servant of God to assume the throne of St. Peter, I can’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the gift of our Catholic faith. ⁣ ⁣ The Lord has once again, faithfully given us a shepherd to guard and protect us, his bride, Holy Mother Church. ⁣ ⁣ The Holy Spirit, once again, will equip and ennoble Pope Leo XIV to lead the church for such a time as this. ⁣ ⁣ As I finished praying the rosary for our new Holy Father this afternoon, I was reminded of this prayer I grew up reciting every morning at school. It had been years since I had even thought about it, but after looking up the words again, I felt so convicted by it. ⁣ ⁣ Please join me in praying this prayer each day for Pope Leo XIV! ⁣ Jesus, we trust in you!⁣ Deo Gratias!

50 days of easter joy in progress…. ⁣ ⁣ There have been so many blessings during the Octave of Easter, but I’m determined to keep living in that resurrection freedom and gratitude for all 50 days of the liturgical season. ⁣ ⁣ For me, this looks like continuing to attend daily Mass, spending more time with friends, reading a chapter of ACTS in scripture every morning, making extra special meals, and having a few more cocktails than usual throughout the week. ;) ⁣ ⁣ And flowers, always more flowers. ⁣ ⁣ Who wants to join me? 🤗

Here is a small bit of my story with why I love sharing Saint stories through fashion! Also the reason why the focus for my second book is telling the stories of the saints through their garments. 🖼️So many have asked about my saints wall! The images come from a variety of places. “This time it will be a difficult delivery, and they may have to save one or the other — I want them to save my baby.” ⁣ ⁣ Gianna Molla spoke these words to her family during her fourth pregnancy. After discovering a fibroma on her uterus, Gianna decided to forgo the necessary treatment which would have secured her own health in order to give her unborn child a chance to live. ⁣ ⁣ Born the tenth of thirteen children in Magenta, Italy in 1922, Gianna grew up as an active member of the Saint Vincent De Paul Society. She also loved mountain climbing and skiing. After earning two degrees in Medicine and Surgery, she opened a medical clinic near her hometown in 1950. She specialized in Pediatrics at the University of Milan and loved serving mothers, babies, elderly, and the poor. She met her husband Pietro during this time, and they married in 1955. ⁣ ⁣ In the second month of her fourth pregnancy, the doctors found a tumor on her uterus. The doctors gave her the legal option to abort her baby in order to perform a hysterectomy to save her life, but Gianna refused. ⁣ ⁣ On April 21, 1962, Gianna gave birth to her daughter, Gianna Emanuela, via Cesarean section. Although the doctors were able to remove her tumor, she had complications after birth and suffered severe pain. Despite all efforts to save both of Gianna and her baby, on the morning of April 28, 1962, just seven days after giving birth, Gianna died of septic peritonitis at age thirty-nine. ⁣ ⁣ In her last moments of tremendous agony, she kept repeating, “Jesus, I love you. Jesus I love you.”⁣ ⁣ A brief thirty-two years later, Pope John Paul II beatified Gianna in 1994 and officially canonized her as Saint Gianna Molla in 2004. Both Gianna’s husband Pietro and daughter Gianna Emanuela attended her canonization ceremony, marking the first time a husband witnessed his wife’s canonization. ⁣ ⁣ She is the patron saint of mothers, physicians, and unborn children. Her feast day is celebrated on April 28.

Throughout my journey of infertility, the Theotokos icon has given me much consolation, reminding me of the dignity and beauty of my vocation as a woman, as a God-bearer. ⁣ ⁣ It’s an honor to share my own version of this icon with you. ⁣ ⁣ Mary’s outer garment is in red, which is typically associated in Christian art with the blood of Christ, symbolizing her salvific role in bringing our Redeemer into the world. Red is also used to recognize her sacrificial life as the Mother of God. ⁣ ⁣ The roses on her cloak further remind us of the redemptive suffering she endured throughout her Motherhood, and the beauty we are all called to bring forth amidst the thorns of our lives. ⁣ ⁣ The letters “MP OV” are an abbreviation for "ΜΗΤΗΡ ΘΕΟΥ” (Mē̂tēr Theou), which translates to "Mother of God" in Greek. ⁣ ⁣ While I painted this image with the intention of blessing women who are also struggling with infertility, I hope you gift it to any woman in your life that needs encouragement in her vocation, whether that be an overwhelmed mother of littles, a woman patiently waiting for her spouse, a friend struggling with her self worth, or your married friend who is waiting to conceive, or conceive again. ⁣ ⁣ Since this week is infertility awareness week, I have included some prayers in the slides of this post.
