🌕 Plato Crater 🌕 This image was captured from a video and processed to bring out the fine details of this beautiful lunar feature.🔭✨ Plato is a large, dark-floored crater with smooth lava that gives it a unique, almost black appearance compared to the bright lunar highlands around it. It’s about 101 km wide and lies at the edge of Mare Imbrium, surrounded by rugged mountain ranges like the Alps and the Teneriffe Mountains. 🏔️ What makes Plato special is its flat floor and sharp rim, which contrast beautifully with the rough terrain nearby. Some small craters can even be spotted inside Plato! 🌑✨ Formed over 3 billion years ago, this ancient crater offers a stunning view that shows the Moon's volcanic past and impact history. 45 MEGAPIXEL Moon Mosaic 📸 Last night I created this Moon image using a Celestron 9.25” telescope and astronomy camera. It consists of over 500,000 frames and 400 gigabytes storage. This is easily my highest resolution Moon image ever thanks to excellent conditions and plenty of data. Real mineral colors are visible on the surface, made of mainly titanium and iron oxides.
