This portion of training should adopt more of a training camp mindset as opposed to just throwing the recruits down a flight of stairs- for time. Focus should be building quality movement patterns with sensible loading and gradually building aerobic fitness. Yes, the candidates should have arrived fit...but our reality right now is they often do not. Some will say this isn’t enough...others will tell me it is too much…or impossible with their equipment limitations. Some will even say why bother because of x,y, z reasons that are out of the profession’s control. Regardless of the excuses as to why this isn’t feasible the street is still out there. Fitness is and will be the foundation for these people before you let them go out into the world and patrol.
