Ah, counterculture. • My favorite! • I swear in another life- I was a salmon…always swimming upstream. • I trailblaze my own path and I make my own way. • I aspire to be a legend. • A stand out. • One who is tenacious and ingenuitive and hard working. • A truth-seeker. • I stand out from the herd. • I will not turn my back. • I will rally for what is right and true and just. • And sometimes…a LOT of times…that looks like a life of persecution and not holding the popular opinion. • Being led by spirit and not flesh is not the easiest path. • It’s often the hardest. • You must have grit and dig your heels in hard. • Be strong and willful. • We were never told it would be easy…doing what is right. • We were never promised an easy life. • Rejecting social norms. • Rejecting consumerism. • Rejecting Government control. • Rejecting social pressures. • Guarding our hearts and thinking for ourselves. • Cultivating a life of community-sustainability and small, local, community government. • I used to be pretty punk rock. • Like, real punk. • You know, total anarchy. • But through the years, even the punk movement-(the most well-known of counter-culture groups) have let me down. • Slowly conforming and morphing into social justice warriors. • So you’d say I’ve gone from punk to prairie (hints the name of my blog-frompunktoprairie 😂💕) • And this movement has been steadily brewing. • And you know what’s crazy?! • Don’t let the floral dresses, aprons, and farm-life fool you. • Us homesteaders are about as gritty and punk as it gets. • It’s a new era. • With new generations of homesteaders and farmers….of all ages and walks of life! • We’re not “uneducated”, “behind”, or “poor”. • We are strong, smart, and capable! • We have rejected conformity! • And have chosen to live for ourselves! • And welcome the freedom that comes with it!!! • Dresses by @notperfectlinen Apron by @americangiant Hat by @stetsonusa Hat band by @miakodaleather Shirt by @naturallife - - - #farmfashionfriday #homesteader #believer #homestead
