Did you know that there was a doctor(a man) in the 1920s(not even worth mentioning his name) who wrote a book telling parents to avoid hugging and kissing children and to maintain emotional distance to prevent creating “needy” children. And another doctor(a man) advised mothers to let infants “cry it out” for hours and claimed frequent feeding, carrying, or comforting would spoil them. WHAT??? And of course now 100 years later science confirms what mothers felt for decades. Cuddling, holding, and responding to a baby’s cries are not “bad habits”. They are biological needs that help regulate a baby’s nervous system and build secure attachments. So the next time someone tells you “they’re manipulating you” I give you full permission to say “No brenda, they’re not. They’re literally just a fucking baby communicating the only way they know how to.”
