Saw a post about a week ago regarding Winkler Knives and saltwater/ beach environments. First, I respect all the input from users regarding other suitable brands but, just throwing it out there, I carry my SD2 everywhere I go- even into the surf while fishing a few hours. That’s right! In my pocket! And, not on purpose. At first there was a touch of panic but after a little Wicked Clean, Wicked Wax and a diamond sharpener, I was a bit stoked about the unique finish. It’s a little like we tell folks that dings to wooden handles are story boards of users’ adventures. I feel the same about blade finishes. This cool, unintentional patina will be a lifelong reminder of this past week at the Outer Banks with family. I do realize, however, that I need to contact Casey for an unlined sheath that can be rinsed out and dried.
