Since our annual drop of our freeze dried herbs is coming up on the 4th- I thought I’d show you this comparison of our calendula with a large company’s calendula side-by-side. • I’m not here to bring any company down- so I thought this reel could speak for itself- and I will also highlight the benefits of freeze dried herbs when making herbal remedies & crafts over other methods, such as drying. • Now- before I continue- I understand that freeze dryers are an investment and not everyone has one. • If you are thinking of getting one- or feel like you are going to start a business one day or use it often- then I would strongly encourage you to continue to save and work towards that goal- because our @harvest_right is 💯worth it! • We run it daily this time of year- mainly for the herbs and flowers primarily; and not just to get our plants ready to sell to others around the country- but to prepare them for the year to be infused into oils to later be turned into soaps and lotions and balms and salves! • I switched to freeze drying rather (especially!) dehydrating or air drying as my primary preservation source for a few big reasons. • The first being the fact that freeze drying preserves the nutrients in the harvest at the highest capacity than any other method out there- and as an herbalist- I need those preserved (for up to 25 years too!) • Secondly- as you can see- the color and integrity of the herb/flower being dried stays together more. • Things are brighter and hold their original shape. • Meaning they look more beautiful and are, therefore, more appeasing to the eye as well as being more medicinally loaded- which matters in business. • Another great point- they dry in about 8 hours in the freeze dryer!! • Since flowers/herbs such low moisture- it doesn’t take much time at all to process- so, really, this is about one of the quickest methods of drying there is as well! • I’ll be sharing many of my freeze dried herbs I’ve been working on the past several weeks that I’ve been pulling from the gardens and woods and acres that surround us with you all this coming week- so you can see what I’ve been up to and what will be for sale as well! 🥰🫶💕🙏
