@minusthebear combine elements of math rock, electronic music, and indie rock to create a unique sound. The band formed in 2001, combining members of established Seattle bands Botch, Kill Sadie, and Sharks Keep Moving. The band pushed the boundaries of indie rock, bringing experimental playing techniques and complex song structures to wider audiences with a more approachable sound. Singer and guitarist Jake Snider has used AC30s throughout the later period of the band, using the Normal channel for the simplicity and its clean tone. In 2018, the band played a farewell tour and released a final EP, but in 2025 the band has reunited to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their cult-classic album Menos El Oso.
