I spoke with Isabella Zandoná for a recent story, and I keep thinking about our conversations. She’s 24 and already doing work that feels intentional and rare: underwater photographer, marine biologist, equestrian trainer…and she carries it all with a quiet confidence. It was a real pleasure speaking with her. What I appreciated most was how open she was about her experiences, and how clearly she could put words to what she has felt and what she has seen. That clarity comes through in the way she talks about the ocean. There’s a depth to it that goes beyond knowledge, because this isn’t just something she does, it’s something she’s meant to do. Certified at 16, she began diving in the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest, a path that would eventually lead her to Antarctica. What stands out even more than where she’s been is how grounded she is through all of it, and that groundedness comes through in her work. It doesn’t just inspire admiration, it inspires action, expanding our world and shifting the way we think about what’s possible. Younger people are already looking to her path and asking what might be possible for themselves.
