Baby-led weaning starts with sitting. Once a child can sit on their own, bring an object to their mouth, and shows an interest in food, they may be ready to start solids. Sitting with their feet flat on the floor gives them the stability they need and promotes safe swallowing. A high chair with a footrest or a child-sized table and chair can be tools for children as they being eating solids.
