Once I got my ostomy, I realized that was the last time I’d let society’s opinion of my body affect decisions about MY body. My ostomy didn’t take anything away from me. It gave me a chance to finally live happily, beautifully, and healthy again. I wish more of us could stop listening to what other people think about our bodies and realize the only opinion that truly matters is our own.
