Anok Yai for British Vogue. @anokyai , photographed by Rafael Pavarotti and styled by Kate Phelan for the June issue of @britishvogue , wears ROKSANDA in a cover story about return: to the runway, to colour, to a career that has never been just a career. In conversation with Funmi Fetto, she emerges as far more than a face of fashion. A painter who draws inspiration from Kerry James Marshall. A voracious reader who has little patience for the industry’s old assumptions about models. An advocate who spent years quietly changing what happens backstage – standing beside other Black models, insisting the industry learn to care for their hair, their dignity, their personhood – long before those changes became the norm. She has said she wants her art to become “a cultural phenomenon.” By any honest measure, she already is one. A woman shaping fashion in front of the lens and far beyond it, on her own terms and in her own image. This is what Women in Culture celebrates. We are honoured she wears ROKSANDA for it. #womeninculture Anok Yai wears the MESSA Dress for British Vogue, June 2026 Photography: @rafaelpavarotti_ Styling: @kphelan123 Words: @funmifetto
