The sun returns. We greet its warmth in breathable fabrics derived from techniques used across the subcontinent. Sheer Venkatgiri cotton woven in Andhra Pradesh and fine satin silk join chanderi, organza, cotton silks and tissue in a range of summer-friendly textiles designed to blend in with the great Indian outdoors. Whites and beiges are pictured against old trees and fresh stacks of hay, while indigos marked with chevron patterns call to mind the playful waves of Leheriya—vibrant and deep. In a palette of signature Raw Mango lime greens, purples and pinks; emerges a remembrance of summers past that informs the collection without overwhelming it. Much like a Mughal bageecha, the collection abounds with life. Swans, tigers and birds are interpreted through geometry. Archival Ashavali and Ashrafi butas mark classic forms. A crane rests in a crescent of flowers. Influences from Baroque architecture meet Rajasthani wall frescoes, but never in the middle. The shapes and silhouettes across the collection prioritize fluidity with a hint of structural support. The oversized free-flowing kurtas and kaftans feature paneling along their shoulders and sleeves. Fitted garments sit alongside saris with soft drapes and piped borders. Embroidery takes the form of delicate threadwork, colorful meena and applique to keep the creations light and wearable, especially on bright afternoons.
