In Jaisalmer, Holi is marked by a specific courtly–community exchange that has persisted over generations. Considered direct descendants of Krishna, whose association with Holi is central to Vaishnav tradition, the Maharawals of Jaisalmer participate in a week-long celebration observed by the Pushkarna community. On this occasion, the Maharawal is regarded as embodying Krishna, and playing Holi within the temple courtyard, accompanied by singing and collective festivity. Archival footage of the late Brijraj Singh alongside images of Chaitanyaraj Singh today records the continuation of this practice across generations-an annual observance where lineage, devotion, and community remain closely aligned.
