Rosalyn Drexler: My Life Has a Life of Its Own is on view at @garthgreenangallery, 25 Greene Street, through October 24. For the Spring 2027 collection, Rachel Comey began with the life and work of Rosalyn Drexler (1926–2025), the Bronx-born painter, playwright, novelist, nightclub singer, Emmy Award–winning comedy writer, and professional wrestler whose work moved freely between the prosaic and the iconic. A member of the first generation of American Pop artists, Roslyn helped shape New York’s cultural landscape. Her paintings brought together tabloids, film, violence, desire, fame, and humor—painted over in vivid color until the original source material disappeared.
