We are incredibly proud to collaborate with member of the Ainu indigenous community, Nibutani Works (@nibutani_works_inc), in creating the Ainu Noren. This Noren is dyed using the Tenassen, manual screen-printing, technique. It is then adorned with a unique Ikarari embroidery. Appliqué and embroidery techniques have great social significance within the Ainu community. With techniques, customarily, being passed down the matriarchal line. All of our Noren are hand-embroidered by a mother-daughter pair connected to Nibutani Works. We care deeply about our partnership with the Ainu community, and are passionate about fostering opportunities that help preserve the rich craft traditions that are part of their heritage.
