If you’ve been considering the Kintsugi Apprentice Program for yourself, get inspired by the works of our Winter Apprentices. A couple of weeks ago, our Winter term came to a close. Throughout the colder months, the studio moved at the pace of kintsugi — participants repaired pieces full of sentimental stories, returning to them day after day as the piece slowly reformed. These are the results. We are now accepting applications for our Summer and Autumn Apprenticeships: as an apprentice you’ll spend your time learning traditional techniques, but also experiencing the deeper rhythm and community behind the craft here in Kyoto. You’ll meet the people who cultivate and harvest materials, those who shape the tools, and the hands in the studio who patiently bringing a broken piece back together.
