An eminently adaptable piece of attire, the haori has undergone multiple transformations since its invention.  The haori, a centuries-old, hip-length jacket, was originally a piece of menswear. This expectation, however, was inverted in the 19th century when the geishas of Fukagawa adopted the article as a unique and highly fashionable piece of womenswear. Today, the contemporary haori has undergone further transformation, adopting a casual and versatile silhouette. POJ Studio’s interpretation, with a traditional cut and western sleeves, can be dressed formally or casually.  Our haori collection is made with 100% linen, produced by Omi Jofu from the Shiga prefecture.
