On this Earth Day, we’re reminded of nature’s unmatched creative capacity - animating matter into life, and life into music. The phrase “Earth Day” always feels a little curious to us. After all, a day is simply the time it takes for our planet to complete one rotation. Every day we know is, by definition, an Earth day. Perhaps someday, humans will venture beyond this planet. We might experience a Mars day, or even celebrate the rotation of a planet we’ve yet to discover. For now, this is the only day we truly know. It’s the type of day around which our biology, our dreams, and our consciousness have formed. Its name exists because Earth itself has provided fertile ground for human consciousness to arise, flourish, and give name to this particular point in space-time. So, today we celebrate Earth Day - not because it’s fundamentally different from any other - but as a humble recognition that through us, the Earth celebrates itself.
