New Zealand Sports Fishing Nationals 2026 MILE ZERO 8 days wrapped into 90 seconds. 18 tagged Marlin & 1 tagged Sword We managed to place 2nd for NZ Best Team Overall Billfish and thanks to an awesome skipper and crew I got 1st place NZ Champion Angler Striped Marlin. At the same time we fished the Pelagic invitational comp coming in 2nd place. After catching nothing for the first 3 days come the 4th day it was all on!! Massive thank you to Rich and Brad for coming to crew for us and most importantly to Wayne for getting me out there. Im pretty sure the tables have turned and he now gets sick of me always asking if we can go fishing!! Our first trip out with our new motors and gear boxes and Mile Zero ran like an absolute dream boat. Fuel economy was absolutely exceptional, 2 days on the East Coast then around to the West Coast where we fished 6 long days and back around to the East Coast without having to refuel. It was a long wait waiting for the boat to be finished but how epic was that for our first trip out and we met some pretty neat people along the way.
