Just three years after Albania created the Vjosa Wild River National Park, this untouched ecosystem is being threatened by illegal development. Unauthorized construction for luxury tourism is currently underway on the Adriatic coast—where the Vjosa meets the sea—in one of the last pristine river deltas in the Mediterranean basin. Since the end of April, bulldozers and excavators have been operating in the Vjosa-Narta Protected Landscape, clearing coastal forests, ploughing through dunes, and cutting access roads to make way for luxury tourism infrastructure. The health of the Vjosa is inextricably linked to its surroundings, including its delta at the coast. Learn more and help protect this pristine wilderness now at the link in bio.
