Here’s a simple test you can do right now to get a quick snapshot of how you are aging (and it doesn’t involve any fancy equipment). The sitting-rising test is just three steps. Start standing barefoot on a flat surface. Then, cross one leg over the other and slowly lower yourself to a seated position on the floor. Then, stand back up from the seated position. The test is scored on a 10 point scale, with a point deducted for each body part used to complete the test and half a point deducted for losing balance. A recent study found that the results of the sitting-rising test were a significant predictor of natural and cardiovascular mortality for 46-75-year-olds. While sitting-rising test results can vary even day to day based on factors like energy levels or injuries, it is still a great way to test your balance, muscle strength, and flexibility and measure progress. Did you tried the sitting-rising test? How did you score? Source: https://academic.oup.com/eurjpc/advance-article/doi/10.1093/eurjpc/zwaf325/8163161
