The further you drive into Joshua Tree, the more the landscape begins to shift 🪨 The road stretches wide, the boulders rise from the desert floor, and two desert ecosystems meet: the Mojave and the Colorado. This is also where the park’s namesake starts to appear. Joshua trees aren’t actually trees… they’re a type of yucca, mostly found in the Mojave Desert 🏜️ . And one of the most interesting things about this place is that the future of these iconic “trees” depends on a tiny moth that helps pollinate their flowers. Without that tiny moth, one of the desert’s most iconic plants would have no natural way to make seeds. Next time you’re hiking or driving through the park, look a little closer… a parks story is always within the details that are easy to miss 🫰
