May’s birthstone is Emerald- a bright green precious stone consisting of a chromium-rich variety of beryl. Emeralds have a rich history, valued by ancient civilizations for their beauty and symbolic meaning. They were mined in Egypt as early as 330 BC, and later in Colombia, becoming prized possessions of royalty and religious figures. Emeralds were also believed to possess magical healing properties and were associated with fertility, rebirth and immortality. Today they are still is a symbol of rebirth and good luck and is known as the stone of intuition, associated with sight and the revelation of future events and truths.
