Both Norse and Greek religion share the same deep root: the Indo-European religious tradition, and the parallels run far: polytheistic pantheons of human-like gods, fate-weaving sisters (the Norns and the Moirai), battles between gods and giants, and even a guardian dog at the gates of the underworld. Both cultures also worshipped through idols and offerings, believed that nature itself was alive with spiritual force, and welcomed foreign gods rather than rejecting them. Even the names reveal the connection — Zeus and Tyr trace back to the same ancient proto-word for a sky deity.
