We have always felt blue to be the warmest color. It wasn’t until we arrived at @ateliervime this past summer, that we understood what that really meant. That particular Provençal blue was never chosen to be beautiful. The old story goes that it was mixed to keep the mosquitos and the flies at bay through the heat, painted around doors and shutters for a reason, not for a look. Utility, quietly applied, year after year. A century of sun has since done its work. The color has softened and lifted and worn down to something no paint chart could ever name. It was made to serve a purpose. It decayed into perfection instead. The whole house is like this. Nothing kept for how it looks. Everything kept for what it was, and allowed to become beautiful on its own time. Some photos we took, enjoy.
