When I was 12, my grandpa bought a Compaq Presario that was on sale at Sears. ( Back in the 90s Steam didn’t exist ) It seemed that the entire family was always trying to get close to it and experience all the cool stuff that came pre-loaded on the windows PC. ( I think it was Windows 95 ) On one visit to the mall, my twin brother and I got a free demo disc of StarCraft and that moment really changed everything. The sound design, the lore, the 3 different races, it all hit me like lightning. We were obsessed. My brother and I would take turns playing as long as our grandparents would let us. To my brother and I, it wasn’t just a game, it was a portal into something greater and an escape from the life that I resented at the time. I hated school, I hated being home with my mom and step dad, but nothing mattered when we were playing Starcraft. Time flew by. One of the races was the Protoss - an ancient, noble species of warriors with advanced technology and a powerful sense of purpose. The futuristic design was perfect. That stuck with me. It still sticks with me and it’s a big part of why I enjoy designing what I do. This new shirt is our tribute to Artanis, one of the Protoss’ greatest leaders. We brought his armor to life with a bright gold yellow ink, charcoal reflectives, and UV neon blue that lights up under blacklight. I can imagine this piece working really well in the cosplay space, lan parties, or gaming events...I feel like there’s a lot of people out there that share the same love for this epic RTS and will be proud to show it off and talk about their experience with Starcraft from the past.
