Trees help block wind and reduce snow buildup. 3. Strong pole structure: More poles usually means more stability when wind picks up or snow starts piling overnight. 4. Low profile shape: Lower tents handle wind much better than tall, boxy ones. 5. Size up your tent: I almost always size up. A 3-person tent for 2 people gives you way more room for packs, boots, and winter gear without turning the inside into a gear explosion. 6.
