As a Pennsylvania-based entrepreneur, I find this bill that PA lawmakers approved within 1 day seems to be half baked. The proposed PA adult-use cannabis bill limits home growers to just 2 mature and 2 immature plants per household, regardless of medical need, family size, or patient access. For many of us who rely on concentrates or high-dose medicine, a single plant might last a month, while taking 3–5 months to grow. On top of that, you can only grow regulated seeds. Cannabis has been stewarded and diversified around the world for generations. Limiting us to state-sanctioned genetics erases our heritage, our medicine, and our autonomy. Only 50 cultivator licenses and 50 microcultivator licenses are proposed, for a state of over 12 million people. Philadelphia alone is one of the highest-consuming cannabis cities in the U.S. I left PA for California so I could grow, breed, and access medicine safely, but I want to come home. Let’s fight for a bill that centers patients, heritage, equity, and access.
