Spent the morning with the @utahdwr banding geese for conservation and research. While some may see banding as intrusive, it’s one of the most effective tools wildlife biologists have to understand migration routes, breeding success, survival rates, and overall population health. Every band has a unique number, and when those bands are later reported when the goose has died, the data helps the Division of Wildlife Resources make informed decisions that protect habitats and sustain healthy populations. The work being done by Utah DWR is critical to the future of our wildlife. Much of this conservation work is funded directly by hunters through licenses, permits, and taxes.
