It all lead to this moment: the launch of the Montana, MKC’s first Folding Knife. 30 Years in the making, this is the pocket knife, perfected. Made and designed right here in Missoula, Montana with the expertise of Master Bladesmith Josh Smith and over 100 hard working Americans behind him making the ultimate everyday carry pocket knife. Knifemaking for Josh Smith started when he was still playing t-ball and his coach and experienced knifemaker Rick Dunkerley took him under his wing. Fast forward to age 19 and he became the youngest Master Bladesmith ever to pass the test and continued on to design custom knives selling in the tens of thousands. It wasn’t until he quit his full time job as a lineman in 2020 that Montana Knife Company was fully launched, starting with a tiny team in his garage shop, to outgrowing yet another shop and finally building a full scale operation in Montana.
