My beautiful mom made these pillows for the boat a few weeks after we scattered my grandmother‘s ashes (her mother) off the back of Some Tuesday in 2018, right off the tip of the Manhattan Beach Pier. My grandmother only had one final request to me before she died. She wanted to have a bigger and bolder sendoff than her brother did. I told her, “I got you Grandma.” She was a super special woman in my life, and I loved her dearly. So we picked up my whole family at the King Harbor Yacht Club in Redondo Beach, CA and sailed up as close as we could get to the Manhattan Beach Pier, and scattered her ashes to all of her favorite big band tunes. It was such a special day putting my grandmother to rest in true grandma Tic Tac Fabulous spirit, in the place she loved so much, the most Manhattan Beach-iest place. So my mom made these pillows as a thank you for the boat. My mom passed away two years later almost to the day. All she wanted in her retirement days was to have a beach front property in Dana Point, California. So of course we had to put her to rest in her dream spot (her dogs ashes too). It was a very emotional and magical day- as we turned the point to her final stop, we were greeted by thousands of dolphins. The day had been overcast, but at that exact moment, the sun beamed through the clouds and we knew that that was the place she would live on forever. So every time I look at these pillows, I think of her and they put a big smile on my face, and I know that she is with us forever. And protecting us on all of our journeys and adventures. And every time we pass Dana Point, I shed a tear and wave (right now🥹). I love you Mom & Grandma Tic Tac Fabulous. Thank you for being the rocks in my life & inspiring me every day.
