What a privilege to spend time inside jewellery designer @lucy_folk ‘s extraordinary home, Le Bateau Ivre, on the shores of Lake Cootharaba in Boreen Point, Queensland. A home with a past as colourful as its interiors — even The Rolling Stones are said to have partied here. Reimagined over two years in collaboration with her close friend, Australian interior designer @tamsinjohnson , this is a home where absolutely nothing feels ordinary, yet everything feels wonderfully at ease. Every detail has a story. A Carlo Scarpa dining table, sculptural ceramic lighting by @benmazey, vintage treasures collected from around the world, @lockerroombymr for lighting @cerimuller_studio ceramics, @lex_williams_ for all joinery, bespoke hardware designed by Lucy herself and the most beautiful interplay of colour, texture and natural light. What I loved most was the personality. Nothing feels overly decorated or contrived. Instead, it’s a home shaped by friendships, travel, creative instinct and a genuine love of design. Even the tropical garden feels like part of the interiors. It’s rare to experience a home with such a distinctive point of view. Lucy and Tamsin have created something deeply personal, effortlessly eclectic and completely unforgettable. And now, remarkably, this very special piece of Australian design history is on the market.
