Rugs may be the humblest of textiles. The literal ground beneath our feet. Lived on more than admired. While traveling through Morocco this winter, we followed weaving traditions across markets, villages, and desert roads. The unexpected, stand-out discovery was Tuareg mats. Handwoven from palm reed and leather by Tuareg artisans of the Sahara, these pieces were originally created for nomadic living: rolled, carried, and lived with for generations. Earthy, durable, and beautifully made, each one carries its own variations and history. This is the reason I anticipate every journey: for the journey itself, and for the potential to find something new and inspiring to bring home, to juxtapose with other pieces from around the world, and to share. 📷: @rachel_robshaw
