Still in awe of @rachelzegler wearing our custom silk chiffon blindfold at the Met 🪽 Rachel’s team @sarahslutsky came to us with the gown design from @prabalgurung that was directly inspired by Paul Delaroche’s painting, ‘The Execution of Lady Jane Grey”. Rachel’s personal affinity for this work, in addition to its various interpretations, was the inspiration behind the dress and the silk chiffon blindfold we created for her. This piece was hand-crafted in our Brooklyn studio, made of silk chiffon and silk satin ribbon - with 105” cathedral length tails which would trail behind the gown during her ascent of the Met steps. The edges of the mask were hand-wired with a very delicate wire so the mask could be molded to her face for a very painterly effect. The mask was made in three pieces so that Rachel would have the option to remove parts throughout the evening, and the tails were on separate combs, while with the face covering itself was finished with a hidden elastic backing. @claytonhawkins did a gorgeous job with pinning the piece into her flowing Ophelia-inspired hair. It was truly a pleasure to work with Sarah, @fionastiles, Clayton and Prabal on this piece! 🤍 ✨
