We followed Andrew Bridgers into the Green Moutnains with a camera for the day to learn more about the GOAT collection. Andrew runs sourcing at Ibex, which mostly means he spends his season trying to destroy things we’re proud of. “My job is finding the failure point,” he says. “I haven’t found this one yet.” The GOAT Collection is built using Betaspun® technology by @suedwollegroup — a fabric that took us 2.5 years to develop and inverts how durable wool has been made. “Core spun buries the nylon in the middle and wraps the wool around it. This does the opposite. You want your most abrasion-resistant fiber getting abraded first — not sitting in the center of the yarn where nothing ever touches it. The merino still comes through to your skin. It just isn’t the thing taking the hit.” Or, the way he explained it to us on the way up: take a pipe cleaner and wrap it in dental floss.
